Partners and Resources
We believe in collaboration, community and transparency. All of
these below businesses and organizations are an integral part of
our farming community! So when you support us, you are
supporting these locally-owned businesses and organizations as
well. We are receiving no benefit from these organizations or
businesses for mentioning them here.
The Seed Bank (Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds), Petaluma, CA
With a grand showroom in the old bank building for the world’s
largest collection of over 1,400 varieties of heirloom seeds, the
Seed Bank’s manager is also our neighbor! Baker Creek’s
Heirloom seeds account for roughly 60% of what we grow.
Johnny’s Seeds, Winslow, Maine
An employee-owned seed company that is rapidly increasing the amount of organic seed varieties they offer. We rely on Johnny’s Seeds for roughly 40% of what we grow.
Harmony Farm Supply, Sebastopol, CA
The premier supplier of all things organic for the farmer and backyard gardener. Locally owned, with a terrific, dedicated staff, we rely on Harmony Farm Supply for our irrigation supplies, nursery supplies, and organic fertilizers.
Sonoma Compost and Recycle City, Petaluma, CA
Sitting atop the Meacham Road landfill off of south Stony Point Rd., locally owned Sonoma Compost creates the highest quality, third party certified organic compost we’ve found anywhere. It is top notch compost which we rely on for our raised beds. We do produce our own compost at Singing Frogs Farm, almost 300 cubic yards each year, but when it’s not enough for our fields, we supplement with Sonoma Compost’s organic compost. Recycle City, at the same landfill, is a great location for all things used. In our case, that means hundreds of nursery trays, 6-pack containers and 4” pots for our seed propagation work!
Occidental Bohemian Farmers’ Market (OBFM), Occidental, CA
Proud supporters of the original OBFM which will be in it’s tenth year this year! With excellent prepared food vendors, live music, and the cozy atmosphere of a lively downtown set deep in a redwood canyon, we enjoy being one of the “regular” vendors here.
The Original Santa Rosa Farmers’ Market, at the Vets Building, Santa Rosa, CA
The only year-round Farmers’ Market in Sonoma County, and a great market to boot! We sell there on occasion year-round (we’re hoping to grow enough to have a permanent spot there!
Night Heron Woodworks, Sebastopol, CA
Farmer Paul also happens to moonlight as a woodworker, crafting everything from bedroom sets and dining room tables down to jewelry boxes and cutting boards, and ALL from 100% salvaged and reclaimed wood! His not-recently-updated website is at: www.nightheronwoodworks.com
Goldridge Resource Conservation District, Occidental, CA
Noelle Johnson and the rest of the staff at the Goldridge RCD have been instrumental in obtaining grants to assist with the thousands of native perennials that we’ve planted as pollinator and wildlife habitat and food sources. They have also helped organize volunteers for planting days to help get the multitude of Sonoma County natives in the ground!
Farm Stewards, Healdsburg, CA
Rose Roberts, working together with Noelle Johnson of the Goldridge RCD has been instrumental in identifying appropriate native plant species for our particular microclimate in our efforts to establish greater pollinator and wildlife habitats and food sources. Her deep knowledge of native plants and their interrelationships, as well as their value to various pollinators and wildlife has helped our plantings to be even more successful.
Partners for Sustainable Pollination (PFSP), Santa Rosa, CA
Kathy Kellison and PFSP just happened to be instrumental in kick-starting our pollinator-friendly approach to farming. While we already knew we wanted to be wildlife friendly, a chance visit to a presentation by Kathy Kellison gave us the renewed enthusiasm to really undertake pollinator habitat preservation with greater awareness and understanding. PFSP is also the organization which certified our farm as one of the first “BEE Friendly Farms” in the United States.
Pollinator Partnership (P2), San Francisco, CA
This S.F. based organization is focused on action-oriented pollinator education for schools, businesses, backyard gardeners and the general public. For a list of easy, everyday things YOU can do to benefit pollinators at your home or business, check out their website!
North American Pollination Protection Campaign (NAPPC), Washington D.C.
This “in the cloud” organization is comprised of 140 different organizations and governmental departments, from the USDA and EPA to P2 and PFSP and numerous other organizations in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. Together, these 140 organizations under the NAPPC umbrella generate enormous amounts of funding for vital research on pollinators as well as create and disseminate educational materials through every possible media channel.
